A handcrafted 6.3-liter V-8 has a peak output 583hp at 6,800 rpm and 479 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm. The SLS-Class has a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT dual-clutch transaxle. The transaxle, which incorporates the transmission and limited-slip differential, is mounted at the rear axle, greatly contributing to the ideal 47:53 front/rear dynamic weight distribution. Plus, a carbon fiber driveshaft provides a direct transfer of power without lag or loss.
